Brugge, Belgium

Brugge, Belgium July 2016

William, Eric, and Rene at the Brussels Train Station waiting to catch the train to Brugge.

The street where we stayed and the little house we rented through airbnb at
Waalsestraat 41, Bruges, Flemish  Region 8000, Belgium.  It was a very old house dating back to 1200's or 1300's with many eccentricities.  For example, the bathroom was out the back door. The "stairs" to the 2nd and 3rd floors were more like a ladder.  The houses were very close and if we had understood the language, we would have known a lot about our neighbors.  But, we loved its authenticity and being able to stay in a neighborhood with the locals.

This was our dining area.  My bike is in the front entry.  The living room to the back left and the "stairs" to the 2nd and 3rd floors.  We're enjoying crepes for breakfast.

The window to the right from the bathroom overlooks the stairs coming up to the second floor and going up to the 3rd.

Here's the view from the stairwell:

The outdoor bathroom.

The kitchen and dining room.  The door to the bathroom is to the right of the back window.

Another typical street near where we stayed.
We loved the cobblestone streets throughout the city.

William, Jeff, Eric, Rene at a bridge near our Airbnb in Brugge. We rented bikes for a day and rode around the entire city plus a little jaunt about 3 miles away to the old city of Damme.

Belfort Tower.  We climbed up to the top and were rewarded with a great view of the city and the beautiful ringing bells in the tower.

Inside the Belfort Bell Tower and the music that was played there.

I'm grateful for William's help.

We rode along the canal toward Damme, a small city near Brugge.

Like many teenagers in Europe, Eric and William enjoyed playing Pokemon Go.

The day we left Brugge was a day of tight connections.
1.  Taxi from Airbnb to Train in Brugge
2.  Train in Brugge to Brussels Airport
3.  Brussels Airport to Geneva Switzerland
4.  Geneva to Lucerne by Train
5.  Lucerne to Interlochen by Train
7.  Interlochen by train to Grindelwald

Fortunately, it went off without a hitch.
